Brent Kelly aged 39 years passed away on May 6 at Fagan Park. He was with his daughter Amanda (aged 11) helping her practise for her cross country. Brent completed the run and then he collapsed pronounced dead on arrival at hospital. His final words were "I love you" to Amanda and then he never regained consciousness. He was dearly loved by his wife Lisa Kelly and his four children Amanda (11), Byron (9), Joel (7) and Goergia (4).
While we were fortunate to have two registered nurses on site when Brent collapsed that administered CPR, professional advice suggests that if a defibrillator had of been available it may have saved his life. As Fagan Park is more remote it took an ambulance some time to reach Brent.
Many people run at Fagan Park on the weekend in both organised (Park Run) and non-organised events. We are hoping to raise funds to have a defibrillator installed here in memory of Brent and at other nearby parks to help save lives. We do not want to see this happen to anyone else if it can be avoided. Brent will be so dearly missed by us all.
