Now that I've reached the big three O after a well-spent twenties enjoying myself in Southeast Asia, it's time to give back! I'm running the 42-kilometer Vietnam Jungle Marathon for charity on May 27 in the Pu Luong nature reserve. I have finished a similar event in September and it inspired me to dedicate this race to somebody else. All pledges will be donated to Blue Dragon's Children Foundation, one of the only NGOs in Hanoi to work to help children out of extreme poverty. They also help trafficked women escape the Chinese sex trade. As both a teacher of children and a woman, this cause means a lot to me. I'm excited to run this beautiful trail and I've got an even bigger motivation to train because I feel like I'm not running only for myself but also for that child, that woman, that person who will be given the chance to escape the unfair life situation that most of us cannot even imagine. I'm dedicating this race to you. No donation is too small! Help raise awareness while offering a way to help make the problem better!
