About

THANK YOU for READING ON and SUPPORTING this important project.

Training for any form of counselling/therapy in Mongolia is very limited. Help us bring dedicated students to Australia to complete training and meet those who will mentor them in establishing programs for vulnerable people in Mongolia.

Beree, and Murun are just two of the professional Mongolian women passionate about helping children and families in their country. They, and 3 other students, have been learning skills for working with social problems and family dysfunction, and have most recently been studying arts psychotherapy as a means of helping the Mongolian people overcome the debilitating consequences of neglect, abuse and trauma.

***We really appreciate you staying with this story. Please click "read more" below to find out the many ways you can help. Thank you.

Large numbers of Mongolia’s population, especially women and children, are vulnerable, victims of destabilization within families, and are economically insecure.

Unexpected consequences of the country’s reforms since 1990 have brought about issues for children such as increased school drop-out, abandoned and street children, working children, commercial sexual exploitation of children and trafficking of young women. Family dysfunction amid such poverty and educational division is tearing apart thousands of years of traditional family and cultural practice, and domestic violence is skyrocketing.

Due to the low population density of Mongolia and the relatively tiny social services budget of a developing country with a still social-budget poor economy, the extent of rural disadvantage in Mongolia is even more striking.

These women have, VOLUNTARILY, in their spare time committed to two years studying arts psychotherapy and investigating how they can use these valuable skills in their work with children and vulnerable adults.

Already a key maternal hospital in Ulaanbataar is establishing an Arts Psychotherapy space as a result of witnessing the difference the service has made for the women (many who have experienced still-birth or neonatal death of their baby).

Tuition and books have been provided to them completely free of charge, and a registered Australian Training Organization will be, as a donation, accrediting them with their Post Graduate qualifications upon completion of the course. Classes are held online each week, late on Sundays, and students diligently complete extensive homework. There have been language barriers, cultural issues and ever changing time zones (both Australia and Mongolia have Daylight saving but in opposite directions and different times of the year) but the team has persisted, and the students are excelling!

Please join us in assisting these women to travel to Australia to complete their training in Arts Psychotherapy, gain valuable mentoring and connections, and to talk to people working in environments similar to those they will be working in at home. To attend will cost approximately $2500 for each woman, for return flights and other travelling costs. Accommodation, meals, teaching supplies and space, and people's valuable time etc. will all be donated from local sources.

The team appreciate your donation however large or small. Thank you so much for your assistance.
