I am a proud Science teacher, and in addition to respect for scientific understanding and enjoyment of and carrying out science-related activities over my career, many of life's highlights have had much to do with Science. These range from being awoken to view a moving dot in the night sky as a child in 1957 (the first artificial satellite), watching spellbound as on black and white TV Prof Julius Sumner Miller challenged many young minds, the Apollo moon landings, and more recently the efforts to entertain, engage and instruct by Tim Flannery, Mary White and Dr Karl (and many others). And how can one pass up a visit to an inspiring location on coast, in forest or inland, where ecological principles are understood and applied. Science is cool - and necessary for us and our world - today and into the future. Come on folks, if you have enjoyed or benefited from Science, then please consider helping out the Organising Committee!
