Simple wish for Smiley Riley. My wife and I are starting this campaign to hopefully grant one simple wish for our Grandson Riley. Riley had been a little fighter ever since he was born, his journey was always going to be a long one right from the very start. He was born with PFFD, which stands for Proximal Focal Femoral Deficiency, a short Femur in the upper leg, and Fibular Hemimelia, a missing Fibular in the lower leg. The ankle of his short leg is level with the knee of the other. He also had a fused bone in his head and no soft spots. He needed major Cranio-Facial surgery to correct his forehead. At the age of 5 months he had his forehead re-moulded. This was major surgery. Several months later Riley's father noticed something not quite right with one of Riley's eyes. They took him to the Dr, and sent for scans. This is when they found out that Riley had Retino Blastoma, Eye cancer. He had his eye removed 1 week later, as the cancer was dangerously close to reaching his brain. Riley then had 6 months of Chemotherapy. This was out of the blue and totally unrelated to any of Rileys other problems, and devastated us all. This Chemo has an adverse effect to the other surgeries Riley has received. Late 2016 Riley had the first operation to lengthen his little leg. They fixed a rod to his leg to stretch the bone, which was broken to allow this to happen. He was supposed to get a 7cm increase in length this time and again later down the track. This wasn't to be. The chemo stopped the bone from growing. They managed to get 4 and had to stop. The chemo also stopped any antibiotics from working and he got an infection. He now has to have his leg Amputated. Not only that, he has to have more head surgery because the chemo stopped that bone from growing too. Without the chemo both of these procedures would have worked. Riley's whole family is devastated, to say the least. Although Riley is having trouble coming to terms with the fact that he is losing his leg, it is a lot to take in for a 6 year old, who has been through so much in his short life. Despite all this Riley has not let any of this change his happy friendly nature. He astounds everyone with his enthusiasm, he has a smile for everyone, and has a happy nature that is contagious to everyone he speaks to. He had the Dr."s and his school teachers wrapped around his little finger. This Campaign is to grant Riley his only wish. To go on a plane, and to swim with the dolphins. We would like to send Riley's parents and his 2 younger sisters Kaiesha and Kiara to seaworld to swim with Dolphins and have the break they deserve.
