Accessible portaloo for St Kilda Cycling Club

Will you give up one coffee for a portaloo? St Kilda Cycling Club is raising funds to hire an accessible portable toilet.

From October - April, SKCC attracts over 200 people of all ages and abilities to our Sunday morning criterium* races in South Melbourne. As we don't have a permanent venue we hire portaloos to service the needs of our members, friends and spectators...but they don't!!

=>We all celebrated the achievements of our Paralympic medalists, Carol Cooke and Stuart Tripp, but we don't have conveniences they can access.

=>Parents with young children are forced to have the door open onto the race circuit...hardly childsafe.

=> We have all had a friend with a mobility affecting injury (or been there ourselves) - try navigating those steps on crutches or with a walking stick. Prams, wheelchairs or walking frames...forget it.

Accessible portaloo hire is 3 times that of a standard unit and is beyond the reach of our not-for-profit, community based club resources. We have applied for a number of grants, but being operational funding, we fall through the gaps and have been unsuccessful.

Please help...

*Criteriums ("crits") are short, fast, technical races on a 1km circuit. Races are conducted for a period of time (usually 20-60 min) plus 3 laps, and are great spectator events.
