About

Twelve months on from an unexpected life changing tragedy to nothing short of a series of miracles, against all odds, Darren's strong will to survive and a faith so strong from Darren's wife Carol, their six children and close family and friends, nobody would ever have dreamed that Darren would finally make it back to his family home this month. Carol's relentless fight for Darren when he was he was not able to do so for himself can only be described as a love so strong that it is not surprising last week Darren and Carol with close friends and family renewed their vows to one another in an intimate private ceremony.

Together they have faced their worst nightmares many times over in the last twelve months making decisions to continue on Darren's treatment against all odds, not knowing if this would be the last time they would see each other. with many treating specialists' teams and family meetings in hospital rooms where decisions were made to continue on when the statistics of survival was stacked against them, they chose to battle on and never give up.
Darren endured extensive lengths of time in an induced coma on many occasions when his health deteriorated multiple times. Darren then faced with being woken up on a breathing machine and realising just what had taken place over the many months. Coming to terms with the extent of his medical condition and the loss of his independence , limbs and a heart condition, and the realisation of the massive battle ahead of him cannot even be described in words the enormity of waking up to your worst nightmare . However with Carol and family support, Darren found himself in the last twelve months undergoing multiple surgeries, amputations, skin graphs, blood transfusions, septicaemia infections and rehabilitation, mental health, wheelchair bound and the loss of independence of everything that we take for granted. Darren has in fact conquered what most would only imagine as impossible.
this has not come easy as you could imagine for Darren and Carol and their six children. Darren was the sole bread winner of the family and with Darren now not able to provide for his family and carol having to support her husband and care for their children. In the last twelve months without her husband by her side has been incredibly difficult and emotionally and financially . with the help of family and friends contributions of support they would have in fact not been able to survive and would have lost their family home. As you can imagine the cost of this horrible experience has taken its toll and is certainly not over.
Over the coming months Darren's rehabilitation is a priority for him to gain some quality of life and independence living with his family finally and as a father and a husband. this means many modifications to the family home and a special vehicle for transportation to and from his many specialist appointments . as you can imagine this all comes at a cost so we are asking if you can find it in your hearts to dig deep for Darren, please share this amazing story of survival with others so they can be inspire3d by this families achievements.
