Adam O'Regan was one of a kind. His tragic passing on 17 October 2016, has left a community of friends and family across the country devastated and at a loss: wondering how could such a wonderful, happy guy could be taken from us all, so young.
Adam never had a bad word to say about anyone and was always ready with a happy smile, a cheery word and a willing attitude, to have a go at anything. He was always the guy you could rely on to help out and make sure everyone was ok.
Through his family days in Narrabri, his time at Cranbrook School, his years at Robb College, rugby days in the eastern suburbs of Sydney and for the last years of his life in Scone, Adam brightened the lives of everyone he came into contact with.
The outpouring of emotion at Adam's tragic passing should surprise none of us given how much he was loved and admired by all. He was quite simply a champion bloke and we were all lucky to count him as a friend.
We grieve in part because we were not ready for Adam to be taken from us. But we should take solace knowing that no matter where he goes in this life or the next, Adam was and will always be, ready to meet anyone with a cheery smile, a laugh and a pat on the back. He was interested so much more in others than himself. A rare gem indeed.
Life teaches us: it is what you have had that matters. Rather than grieve for a life tragically lost, let's try to celebrate the time we had Adam among us, and let's do all we can to let Sal, Tully, Alby and Daniel know that Adam was one of a kind.
We will honor his legacy and his love, his laughter and his kindness in the best possible way we can.
