I am about to embark on a very long walk to hopefully raise some money for two charities. The Camino Via de la Plata is a 1230 km hike from Seville to Santiago in Spain. I anticipate it will take about 6 weeks of walking 20-30 kms a day. I am doing this to raise money for two causes that render people unable to have this luxury.
1. Earlier this year, Will Murray, a 13 year old vibrant and energetic boy, jumped of the Half Moon Bay pier and sustained a spinal chord injury rendering him an incomplete quadriplegic. He requires 24 hour care and the expenses are overwhelming for his family. Although he is now at home, he needs constant rehab, medication and professional care.
2. My husband and his father both died from Motor Neuron Disease. It is a despicable illness with no known cause or cure. It renders a person unable to speak, swallow, walk etc whilst leaving their brain in tact. It robs them of their dignity and ability to function independently until they succumb to it completely. Please help me raise money for research into this awful disease..
