After much thought and a lot of head scratching, I have decided to cut my losses and shave my head for charity (puns intended).
I am donating all money raised to two charities close to my heart. Half the money will be donated to the Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI) and the remaining money will be donated to SOC – Supporters of Cancer.
My dear dad Ken, passed away almost 4 years ago from a rare autoimmune disease. He was a brilliant man and not a day passes that I don’t think of him and smile, shed a tear and/or laugh at the beautiful memories I have with him and my family. I would love nothing more than to make him proud, raise some money and do my part to help the lives of those touched with illness. Which is why I have chosen to donate to HMRI, as their work aims to prevent, cure and treat a variety of illnesses in the Hunter and around the world.
I had the great pleasure of knowing Sharon ‘Lady Shaz’ Considine for 14 years. I watched her battle her cancer with grace and courage, all while putting herself second to her beautiful family and friends. Both Sharon and her husband Gary founded SOC and I’m honoured to be donating money to their charity.
Finally I must admit that I’m excited (and terrified), to be putting the GHD, hair brush, hair gel, sea salt spray, teasing comb, bobby pins, mousse and hairspray on the shelf for a few months.
I will be shaving my head on Sunday the 8th January in London,at a location to be confirmed closer to the date.
I am so grateful for any donation small or large and if you aren’t in a position to donate money; please show your support by spreading the word.
Love,
Sophie
