Those of us that know the Grant Family, understand just how special and amazing they are.
For those who DON’T know the Grant Family – here is some insight for you.
Charlie and Stacey have known each other for nearly 20 years. This beautiful couple were the toast of the town…..happy, carefree, in love……but on the inside, desperate for a family of their own. However, they knew there was no way that would happen without full IVF assistance. After 12 months, 3 rounds of IVF, AND their wedding, they were finally blessed with their daughter Lilly in February 2012.
In early 2015, Charlie and Stacey felt ready to try for a much wanted second baby, meaning more IVF. It was during this extremely invasive round of IVF (including an operation for Charlie), that doctors discovered he had MULITPLE MYELOMA BLOOD CANCER. So instead of a dream baby, this beautiful family have received 9 months of chemotherapy, stem cell transplant, and a very uncertain future.
For those who are unfamiliar, Myeloma is a type of cancer that develops from plasma cells in the bone marrow. As bone marrow is found in multiple areas of the body (e.g. the spine, skull, shoulders, ribs and pelvis) the disease is often called multiple myeloma. The DNA of plasma cells becomes damaged and this causes the cells to become cancerous. These abnormal plasma cells, known as myeloma cells, divide and spread throughout the bone marrow. The myeloma cells crowd out the bone marrow, so there is not enough space to make enough normal blood cells.
Whilst there is treatment available for Charlie, a lot of people don’t understand that his particular cancer is INCURABLE. Each course of chemotherapy will give Charlie an unknown amount of cancer free time……..before it returns and they have to start the process again. And the cancer free is never guaranteed. Time for this family is soooooo precious!!!
Please don’t think for a second that this family feel sorry for themselves..…quite the opposite.....I have never seen a family pull together and keep going the way that these guys do. I only wish we could all be as strong as they are!!!
This family had grand plans of converting their outdoor carport to a built in garage, with internal access to their home. This was a job that Charlie had started doing himself before his diagnosis. The costs of their IVF, and now the cancer treatment are pretty astronomical. His dreams of finishing it seem almost impossible.
So…being as they have a lot of financial outgoings, the last thing on their mind will be finishing what he started.
This beautiful family are the most genuine and deserving people on the planet, and they would never want to be thought of as a charity case, and they aren’t!! This is just something myself, and their family, wanted to do for them, just to make life that little bit easier.
With the money raised, I would firstly like to arrange for a builder to finish the job that Charlie started…..to build in their garage with an electric door, and a connecting internal door leading straight into the house. If funds allow, I would also like to arrange for a house cleaner once a week for the next 6 months, while Charlie has the worst of his treatment, and Stacey continues to work full time and care for Lilly.
Every little bit counts!!! THANK YOU so much for even the smallest donation, even if it is only the cost of tea and cake. Let’s get this out to as many of your friends, family and work colleagues as we can. PLEASE SHARE!!!!! If ever a family needed some extra TLC, it’s this one!!!
Thinking of you and your Family Charlie. Thanks for all your support here in the Bundy store and wish you all the best.
