Going Home

My loving father Peter Barry Shew or as I called him big boy, age 60 was diagnosed with leukaemia and fought so strongly for over 6 months. Dad was never shy about his love for us especially daddy’s little girl. His loves included many other things, his passion was seen in the kitchen, some would say he cooked enough for an entire army. He loved spices and getting creative. Despite not having much luck he loved to fish with the boys, I have very fond memories of our tubing trips and the bruises that followed. He loved sports all kinds, kicking the footy and watching the game with a few drinks in hand. He loved dogs especially ours and the walks we would go on together. Many nights were spent killing Zombies on the X-box, and every Saturday morning watching the wrestling. He loved reading and watching war movies, he was fascinated by the topic and history in general. He was proud to be a husband, father, brother, Freemason, Green Beret, fisherman, plumber, business owner, supporter of the RAAF fishing club and RSL. Judo was an activity that we shared together, he invested much of his time and shared my achievements with me for many many years. Dads battle with Leukaemia is nearly over unable to communicate any more, his last request to us was for him to have a memorial ceremony in Darwin surrounded by friends and loved ones, and to be buried in Melbourne with Family. Unfortunately, this is very costly and only having one income for over 6 months won’t make this an easy task. We ask anyone who is able to donate in order to make this request possible.
