Welcome to Lofa ! We are a small community of people all from the same County now living happily in Western Sydney. We were the lucky ones,as we have escaped after years of living in camps as a result of civil war and we now get to call Australia home.
Lofa is the northern most county of Liberia and our old home. It borders on Sierra Leone and Guinea which means not only have the people suffered through Civil war they have also been the worst hit with Ebola as many people travel through Lofa County bringing the virus with them.
As people from this region we are desperate to help our Families and Neighbours through this on going struggle, so we decided to start taking donations and with help from Mamre house we put out a call for clothing for all ages - Household items like sheets and towels - school needs like text books and back packs for children. We were inundated with items, and now we are running out of storage space a great problem! So now it's time for the first round of goods to get shipped to Liberia, and that's where you come in! We are seeking monetary donations to pay for the shipping of our goods to Liberia as well as plane tickets for 2 community members to distribute goods and document the journey for everyone in Australia.
We have packed items up into bags ready to give people in need we are doing this independently from other charities because our aim is to focus on supporting Lofa county.
Every dollar will help support people who have lost everything! Most belongings have been burnt along with homes to aid in the eradication of Ebola.
