Hey everyone!
I (along with most of you reading this) am extremely blessed. I was born in and live in a country where food, safe drinking water, jobs and housing are plentiful. I sleep with a roof over my head, a loving family around me, without fear or persecution and with food on my plate - everyday! Unfortunately, this is not the case for so many people around the world and I am passionate about making a difference in these people's lives in any way I can. In fact, I believe I am called to do so!
So, in June this year am going on a team missions trip to Bolivia. We will be based in 'Casa Segura' orphanage in the amazon village of Riberalta, where we will help with necessary construction work and maintenance and will spend time with the children teaching them, playing with them and loving them. As well as this, I would like to use my skills as a dentist to help both the children in the orphanage and the people in the surrounding area by providing emergency dental care including extractions for people in pain, as access to health care in the area is very limited. I also plan to provide whatever medical, dental and oral hygiene products I can that will be of use after I leave.
All of this is going to cost money to buy, transport and donate all the equipment and products, so that is where I hope we can partner together. I have set a target amount of $1000 and will be making some of the purchases out of my own pocket in order to contribute myself. If we beat the target and have money left over it will go towards other costs of the trip (eg. extra visa required to carry medical supplies etc.) and purchasing other things for the children and the orphanage (eg. books, clothes, tools, animals etc. - this will be determined exactly based on the needs we see when we get there).
This is a cause that is very close to my heart. I am passionate about helping those less fortunate than myself and about showing them God's love and compassion through actions! If this is something that you feel you would like to support, I would greatly appreciate any contribution, big or small - every little helps.
