SUPPORT TANYA AND HER FAMILY
In late 2015 Tanya Stubbles fell down a flight of stairs in a local art gallery and incurred severe head injuries. As a self employed artist and single mother, Tanya and her 4 beautiful children Taj (12), Lotus(14), Jarrah(17) and Amber (19) live from the sale of her work. With the cessation of income, the Stubbles need financial support for day to day expenses and to provide the care and assistance Tanya will require during rehabilitation.
ARTIST AND MOTHER
Tanya is an Australian professional artist specializing in constructed and assembled artworks, from recycled found materials, exploring rural and industrial landscapes. Since 2006 Tanya has completed a residency at Bundanon, been a finalist in the Wynne Prize (2008) at the Art Gallery of NSW, and consistently exhibited new works in galleries and art fairs or taken commissions from private clients from Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane to Alice Springs and China.
Tanya is on a successful career trajectory, all the more remarkable is that Tanya juggles this with being a single mother. Tanya is talented and extraordinary and has dealt single-handedly, with the vicissitudes of life and the struggles of being a female artist in a competitive national and international art market.
Learn more about Tanya and see her artwork at: tanyastubbles.com.au where she describes herself "... as a social landscape painter. My goal is to explore the Australian identity, our stories and pastimes. I seek to create iconic images, which weave together stories of the land, its people and history. Through the use of nostalgic and sentimental elements sourced from all over Australia, I create works which speak to the people of their experiences.'
THE ACCIDENT
Tanya was air lifted to Sydney, had emergency surgery and was placed in an induced coma for 3 1/2 weeks. With all her might, she is currently in a stable condition. Tanya has opened her eyes, smiled and spoken. She is regaining her movement and cognitive skills but both will require many months of rehabilitation with all the possibilities of the unknown ahead. It is estimated that she will be in hospital for up to 6 months. Thereafter her journey will unfold with all the love and care from her family and community and hopefully her next great series of artworks may be in the making.
Tanya's amazing parents, Lyn and Warwick, have stepped in to help care for her and her children. Lyn and Warwick have travelled from the south coast, are retired and need our assistance.
WHY SUPPORT TANYA’S FAMILY
While Tanya recovers her family needs our help to keep her home running and help provide for her children in their home. As a single Mother she was paying a mortgage, renovating an old house which is only half finished and paying all the bills that come with running a family: water, electricity, phone, rates, groceries, school needs etc. Tanya achieved all this through her work as an artist, often working 15 hours a day to complete works. However, at times when bills needed to be paid Tanya could be found working as a gardener to make sure her families financial needs were met. We need to step in and help pay these bills, help complete the renovation of her home and provide whatever assistance she may require in the future.
Tanya is an amazing artist and an even more amazing mother, daughter, sister and friend. She is so loved by so many people, all rallying for her. Tanya and her family need our help, so please give what you can to this beautiful amazing woman and her kids.
Please support Tanya on her journey of love and recovery x
