OUR STORY
In July 2015 just a week after my 26th birthday and just 3 days after our 4D Ultrasound, I went to the Toowoomba base Maternity ward as I had what I thought aparanoid mummy moment' I hadn't felt my usually quiet baby in my belly for a while, my midwife Katie was lovely and kept positive like most mums to be come in panic and everything is fine, as I also thought would be the case with me.

I sat in the arm chair in a small room as Katie put the monitors on my belly apologising for the cold gel, as I sat there waiting to hear a little galloping heart beat on the monitor, Katie continued to look mentioning that she thought she heard it so don't stress shes just in a bad position. a few minutes of searching she got out a portable ultrasound machine it had a tiny little screen as she chucked more cold gel on my belly and had a look I was anxious to see that little movement that was my baby girls heart beating, I seen my babys spine and head shape but no movement where her heart should have been beating, Katie said she couldn't see very well so they'll chuck me on the big machine in the other room with the Dr, keeping calm and positive for me.

I laid on the bed, belly out as the Dr introduced himself and began my scan. I couldn't see anything and yet still didn't hear anything. my heart began to get heavy but I was still in hope that the volume was just off.
The Dr stopped as Katie came to sit next to me and hold my hand, he said the words I was dreading but expected to hear. IM VERY SORRY BUT IT SEEMS BUBBY HAS PASSED AWAY.
It felt like my universe was collapsing around me and I just felt heavy and didn't want to breath and just wake up from this horror dream I must be having. this kind of stuff just doesn't happen to yourself.
I called mark trying not to cry, not being able to say out loud that our baby girl has died, I just said you better get down here they cant find her heartbeat.

When he finally got there we had yet another scan to confirm which I had some little hope that they just had it wrong. until we seen it on the monitor our self.
Three days later I went to hospital to be induced into labour to have our 2nd daughter. my 4th baby and 10 weeks too early.
Amelia was Born already sleeping 9 weeks early on the 24th July 2015 at 1:47pm on the shower floor. it was a relaxing beautiful quick birth and she was looking after mummy, she was born complete in the sack they live in for 40 weeks in the belly.

We were fortunate enough at this horrible time to be able to spend 3 days with our Amelia. A Cold Cuddle Cot was brought in to our room as soon as she was born.
She was a perfect baby a little button nose, chubby round cheeks she looked like her sister. only a lot tinier! at only 920Grams and 35cm long.

We were able to have our girl in with us all day and night while we slept. we didn't have to ask to see our baby, she didn't have to be taken away from us to keep cool she remained with us until the time we felt ready to let her go. all because of a cuddle cot donated by the Emerikus Land Foundation, parents who also have had their babies sleeping.

Mark and I think it is just a beautiful idea and appreciated the fact we got to spend as much time with our daughter as we could. To make what memories we could we her.

On behalf of my mum, her gift for Mother's Day. As a mother of three beautiful girls, I can only imagine the pain that parents who go through this experience feel and think the cuddle cot is a wonderful way to let the families grieve on their own terms xx
