Our beaches are beautiful and I can't imagine not being able to walk across the sand to dip my toes in the water, have a paddle or swim.
Yet too many people in our community can't reach the water's edge due to their physical health holding them back. Beaches aren't the friendliest places for wheelchairs and crossing sand can also be difficult for people using walking aids or even prams can find it difficult to navigate this terrain.
That's why I'm partnering with the Adelaide community, Surf Life Saving SA and Seacliff Surf Life Saving Club, to trial a beach access mat at Seacliff beach. In the first instance we hope that this mat can be rolled out during surf life saving patrols to direct people to the safest part of the beach. In the longer term I'd love to see these access mats at every patrolled beach in Adelaide.
My Cause Gift Fund for Seacliff Surf Life Saving Club
Funds donated to the My cause Gift Fund will be disbursed to Seacliff Surf Life Saving Club. The trustees will always disburse funds to the nominated cause, however in the case that that is not possible, the funds will be disbursed to a DGR charity at the trustees discretion.
