Elana Maryles Sztokman

Elana Maryles Sztokman is an award-winning author, sociologist, educator, activist and thinker in the field of Orthodox Jewish feminism. Sztokman was trained in education, sociology and Judaism.

The NCJWA Scholar-in Residence Program is a project to bring high profile women of achievement from Israel to tour Australia in 2016.

Not only can the scholar-in Residence act as a role model for Australian Jewish women, but can share what she has done to achieve positive advancement of women in their fields.

The educational value of high status women speaking to both Jewish and non-Jewish groups helps to cement NCJWA’s place as the thinking women’s organisation.

We are planning to bring Dr. Elana Sztokman from Israel, as our National Scholar-in Residence.

Elana Maryles Sztokman is an award-winning author, sociologist, educator, activist and thinker in the field of Orthodox Jewish Feminism. She was trained in education, sociology and Judaism. She has lectured throughout Israel, and also worked as Executive Director of JOFA, The Jewish Orthodox Feminist Alliance.

We are very excited at this prospect. Our intention is that Elana will visit each of our sections, to speak on Jewish feminism and gender equality and to advance the status of women, empowering women to reach their potential.

She will be hosted privately where-ever possible. However we need funds for her travel expenses.

We estimate that the outlay to us, the National office, will be around $6,000, appealing to you to contribute to our project.
