Sadly, time is not on my side. My situation is becoming more critical with each passing day and I may now be just months away from execution unless I can mount a successful final appeal against my unjustly harsh sentence.
In recent weeks, I have assembled a new legal team of competent Indonesian lawyers and experts who are ready to fight my case at what is known as a PK hearing – a form of retrial, and my last chance to have my death penalty revoked.
Their immediate job is to obtain expert witnesses and legal submissions to convince the Indonesian judiciary to allow a PK hearing which would probably be held before the end of the year. They are in a race against time to complete this work.
The cost of gathering these experts and evidence needed for the hearing is approximately $80,000AUD and the brutal truth is that without the funds to pay for the experts and legal costs, my submission cannot be lodged and my execution will go ahead unchallenged. So far $40,000AUD has been raised through your generosity and the purchase of the handicrafts that we make in the prison.
You have given me so much help already and I am reluctant to ask this, but I appeal to you today to help me to raise these funds so that I can be given one last opportunity to get justice and to have my death penalty overturned.
