3 key focuses of this campaign.
1. Raise money for compassionate friends who help people who are dealing with grief
2. Raise awareness around the benefits of health and challenge peoples beliefs around health by challenging myself physically when I am dealing with the worst thing that can happen in a parents life
3. Putting my daughter’s name out there so that her 3 short years can have an even more profound impact then what they have already had and give some reason to this tragedy. (Pictured in the above photos as a beautiful flower girl on her last night on earth)
I lost my beautiful princess at 3 years old in tragic circumstance whilst on holiday on Feb 16th of this year (2015). At her young age she was already the most beautiful person and unique individual that has been part of my life; she was clearly destined for great things. She was our one and only child, the first granddaughter on both sides. She had a special connection with everybody she met and her loss left irreparable devastation in us all and no words will do justice to the torment this has caused
Losing a child brings on feelings of loneliness because it is hard for people to understand what you are going through, imagine if you’re dealing with it alone? There is only one foundation that deals specifically with helping families (parents, brothers and sisters) who have lost a child – of any age. That foundation is The Compassionate Friends and I am helping them by raising funds so that they can continue help people who are in my situation.
One thing that clearly stood out about Valentina was her love for all creatures and she could not tolerate seeing anyone or anything in pain. This campaign will allow her to live on and have a positive impact on the people reaching out for support form 'Compassionate Friends)In May of next year (2016) I will be competing in the Australian Natural Body Building competition held in Victoria. Challenging myself physically to spread my daughters message of empathy and caring for others will help me deal with my grief as I will still be a father doing whatever it takes to make his daughter happy.
In the early days of my grief I was not heading down the right path with my health, Since I came up with this idea and have got back to the gym it has helped me deal with my greif and helped me sleep at night through forced fatigue. There are so many benefits to exercise of any kind in good times and bad. I hope this inspires people to take better care of their health
