This is now the time for the family to be at one and spend the last waking moments as a family.
At just 32 she was diagnosed with an extremely aggressive form of breast cancer.
With the support of her amazing husband David, her loving sensitive boy Lachlan who was only 3 and her beautiful cheeky girl Caitlin just 10 months at the time, she has endured over 12 months of chemo, radiation, intravenous therapy and hormonal therapy. She also had a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery resulting in 6 surgeries in 3 years.
Unfortunately in November 2014, 3 years after diagnosis, she was told the devastating news, that her cancer had spread and is now incurable. She has a long road ahead, filled with more chemo, Radio therapy and numerous intravenous drugs, which she’ll require for the rest of her life.
Even with this devastating news, Kerry is still smiling, powering ahead and trying as best she can to remain strong for her family. Kerry has become the ambassador for the Flinders Center for innovation in Cancer. This is to help raise awareness in cancer and to push the cause.
Throughout this painful ordeal in 2012 David was unfortunately forced to find new employment as a result of having to take significant time off, many times unpaid, to support Kerry and their children through her treatment. Kerry as expected, has been unable to work at full capacity and with the financial strain of tests, drugs and medications, they are only just managing to keep their head above water.
Fortunately, David has been able to find employment again. He too wished to make a difference in cancer taking a role at the Flinders Foundation. David has devoted his working life to finding a cure and help raise money for the horrible disease. He is being selfless to help others even though his only family faces a daily struggle.
In recent times Kerry has had swelling on her brain causing 2 huge seizures. She had to have 2 urgent brain surgeries and David was told to prepare to say goodbyes. The surgeries worked and now Kerry has a drain from her brain to her stomach to regulate the flow.
This will now also result in more treatment that will make Kerry rather unwell.
This page has been setup to try and help raise money for The Briggs family, to assist with the financial strain they are faced with and to allow them to focus more on supporting each other and enjoying each other through this terrible time.
It is highly unlikely Kerry will see her children finish school or even possibly make it to when they start high school, so they have plenty of memories to try and make in a potentially short space of time.
Please help this family make some memories to last Kerry's children a lifetime.
