Losing my mum was the hardest thing I've ever been through. I was lost, I was 23, and things could have gone a different way in dealing with that pain but I couldn't allow it to happen.
She was the best person I knew and I had to make her passing mean something more than another sad story. So that has become my purpose, to show that Emotion = Energy. You can use pain to fuel something bigger than yourself and I know, whilst she would be worried about what I do, she would be extremely proud.
I saw her battle cancer 3 times and people like her who are fighting for their lives show more heart, bravery and resilience than I ever could going for a run.
I'm attempting to break the World Record for the fastest person to run across Australia. Beginning April 15, I'll run the equivalent of over two and a half marathons per day in 35 days to attempt to break the record. Along the way, I'm raising money for the American Cancer Society to honor my mom's legacy, turn her pain into purpose and inspire people who are going through hard times to keep fighting and keep pushing. I hope you'll join me in this journey.
While attempting a Guinness World Record Run Across Australia is a huge challenge, there's no comparison to the fight against cancer. So that's my superpower. Knowing that someone else, my mom included, is going through or has been through worse. So I take another step. Thank you for considering donating to the American Cancer Society. Together we can beat cancer.
