We're asking the local community and other people who backed us so strongly following the recent graffiti attack to contribute to this crowd funding.
* Woodend RSL Sub-Branch exists to provide support and cameraderie for local veterans and ex-service members of the Australian Defence Force, and affiliates. We also aim to support Woodend organisations and locals to help build the community.
* We have been planning to paint our hall's western wall with a mural commemorating the service of veterans and featuring local people. The mural concept (drafts in the photos above) has been designed by renowned Macedon Ranges artist Chris Roy Taylor (
https://www.chrisroytaylor.com.au/) and will be installed by local family-run Macedon Ranges Signs.
* Woodend RSL has received some Victorian Government grant funding towards the mural. However, following the graffiti attack on the RSL hall prior to the Woodend Rotary Club's Australia Day 2025 event, the RSL Committee is now looking to extend CCTV and lighting to cover the planned mural wall. We also need to repaint the front wall of the building to cover up the remnants of graffiti.
* Other necessary projects that we have planned, such as a replacement dishwasher and a new shed, may also be impacted by having funds channelled to graffiti recovery.
We were overwhelmed by the show of community encouragement and thank you for your support so far.
Supporting the Woodend RSL is a no brainer! A multifaceted venue used by many community groups & local families! Look forward to the improvements! X
