I recently moved to Alexandria and befriended a fellow new neighbour, she's moved into public housing a few doors down from me and is an absolute sweet heart. Her name is Lani, she's an indigenous woman living with a disability (and a proud Rabbitohs supporter) We got to talking and it turns out she doesn't own a fridge.. or a bed (does a blow up mattress on the floor count). After chatting a little further, it turns out she needs a few other essentials, one of them being a chest of draws for her clothes and a plumber to help fix a tap. I also noticed her TV is on the ground (a small entertainment unit would work great) and she needs a couch. Please chip in whatever you can and I hope we can bring xmas cheer to lovely Lani this year. Please note: all money raised will be deposited into my account where it will be spent on costs associated with fitting out Lani's house, any leftover money will be transferred to an indigenous housing charity or foundation, this will be decided upon in an update once Lani has everything she needs.

Hey Guys, It's been a few weeks between updates, I wanted to let you know what's been happening with Lani. She has been overwhelmed with all the support you've given her. We raised $9000+ which is insane. We've pretty much completely kitted out her house. We have an Entertainment unit, DVD player and a 2nd TV coming for her bedroom upstairs this week which she is really excited about, she's been loving watching the cricket and game shows in the afternoon. Since the last update, we had Adrian the very talented plumber come through (https://enfieldplumbingservices.com.au/) and fix all Lani's taps. The kitchen tap had to be turned on and off under the sink at the mains and the tap in the laundry would spill onto the floor, the shower head was also pretty crappy and sprayed everywhere and the taps in the bathroom would make the wall shake when turned on. Adrian updated all these to modern mixer taps which make them much easier to turn on and off as Lani doesn't have the strongest grip in her hands. Adrian also installed a little tray in her shower so she has access to her body wash and shampoo/conditioner, before it was out of reach on an upper ledge We also installed her washing machine and dryer in the laundry and stacked them on top of eachother. She's never used a side loading machine before and is loving it. We've also had to clear out some pesky wasps that have returned recently, they really love Lani's back yard. Another update, we installed this really cool rabbitohs flag in her bedroom and proper curtains with curtain rods over all the windows in each room I've installed motion detection solar powered lights throughout Lani's backyard so she can see where she's going when she arrives back at night It's been getting super hot recently and we're hoping housing NSW can install aircon for Lani, in the short term I am going to look at buying some tools so I can install screen doors for her front and back doors so she can have air flow through the house when we get that cool southerly change in the afternoons without letting her cats (Monty & Panther) out, she really loves those cats. I am off to Vietnam over the next few weeks but I will keep you updated soon with more happenings in Lani's world. Again, thank you for all your support

My brother and I took Lani to Ikea today, she's never been before, she didn't know what it was all about! She was blown away by how massive the place was, how many little living rooms they have inside! "Do people live here" she asked, I said 'Um yes, and if we take too long here, we will be staying the night!' - Bowls and cups for the kitchen - Little pen and pencil trays for her desk - A cute bedside lamp - An outdoor chair so she can have a durry and say g'day to people as they pass by the house - Matching green pillows for her new couch - A full length mirror - A coffee table on wheels so she can wheel it about - And a glass display cabinet so she can show off all her cool little knick-knacks she's collected over the years. She stood in front of this beautiful black cabinet and said "I've always dreamed about having one of these", well, you are SORTED Lani! We also picked up a chest of drawers and a tall boy from Jerome in Epping, thank you so much mate! We also got a pest specialist in to remove the EIGHT (!!) Wasps nests that were haunting the rear of her house, bye bye wasps! We have a plumber who is donating his time to fix Lani's busted taps this week, exciting! We're still in need of a front load washing machine and a shed to store her Mobility Scooter in her backyard, if anyone has any leads, please email me pat@patstevenson.com I will be making a trip to Bunnings this week to pick up a few more essentials

Hey Guys We had an amazing day today, Lani has been so stoked. I knocked on her door early this morning and told her that I put a message online to see if we could find her a fridge and I said I had MANY people reach out to offer their help, she couldn't comprehend it! "How do you know so many people Patrick?" She asked.. I said I am lucky to connect with many amazing people via instagram where I post my photos. I then told her that I will be back soon and that 'there may be a fridge on it's way to you today'. After about 30 mins I went back and told her that Alex Hunt had donated a fridge from her place in Darlington and that Ramsey Sayed was on his way to pick it up in his van and was going to drop it off to her place. She couldn't believe it, she was STOKED. The previous day I told her I was going to come over and trim the tree in the backyard and put a curtain up for her but on top of this, she managed to get a fridge and a book case! I went back this afternoon to help her set up her android notepad (which she calls her laptop) cause she wanted to play her games and I noticed that she's already populated the book case with books and some plants I gifted her, she also said that her cats have taking a liking to it by sitting on the shelves, it's too cute. I am hoping that I can take her shopping this weekend to buy her a few essentials for the house Couch Chest of drawers Bed Entertainment unit Washing Machine Dryer Microwave I am also open to buying these 2nd hand or if anyone has one that they want to gift, more than welcome! You've all been amazing and I will keep you updated with everything that goes down, she has no idea about the fund raiser but I am about to rock her world thanks to all of you.
