November 18th, I am embarking on the challenge of conquering the Te Araroa - a 3000km hike along the land of the long white cloud. Yes that’s right, just me, my tent, a map and my questionable orienteering skills.
I know what you’re thinking and no this is not a midlife crisis of sorts! This trek is not just about personal endurance on my 40th lap around the sun, it’s about raising awareness and funds for cancer research. Cancer affects millions worldwide and personally it has profoundly impacted my life, with the loss of my beloved Dad, Paul.
I’ve set the ambitious fundraising target of $30,400. $10 for every KM I will walk.
As I hike through diverse landscapes—from stunning mountain peaks to lush forests and rugged coastlines—I aim to symbolize both my personal physical and mental challenges and the struggles faced by cancer patients and their families.
Every dollar raised will go directly to the wonderful and reputable Cancer Council, who are dedicated to advancing research, prevention, and an ultimately finding a cure.
Please follow my journey, the pleasure and the pain as I try to complete the trail in 4 Months, needing to average 25kms a day (15.5 miles for my English and American friends) with regular updates on Instagram @tearsroaadventureswithjeff as I traverse across New Zealand’s stunning landscapes.
Your support is vital and means everything to me, whether it be through donations, sharing my mission with your network, or cheering me on from afar. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those battling cancer.
Thank you!
Jeff
