I'm Cas, great aunt to Wren and to Hunter, who is 6 and lives with Down Syndrome and CEO of Down Syndrome WA. I am in this role because of Hunter and his beautiful mum, my niece Aimee.
DSWA continually need funds to provide connection and support to our families, work which is often unfunded. Each year we need to raise enough money to cover $250k of operational costs, including fundraising for my own salary! Not an easy task! So I've decided to get myself fit, and in October - Down Syndrome Awareness Month, try to complete a Triathlon circuit on Sunday 27 October. All monies raised go to DSWA - 50% to general needs and 50% to Aimee's fund, a fund set up in her memory to support the mental health and wellbeing of parents of children with Down Syndrome.
