Recently FHC lost a very valuable member of our team in Nepal. Bijay succumbed to a suspected aneurism while on a mountainous trek. He was just 25 years old.
FHC supported Bijay through his early education at the village and further studies in Kathmandu. He returned to teach at the Batase school in between trekking with Take on Nepal. He also worked at the FHC hostel taking care of the children through early morning runs, volley ball and student presentations every evening.
We want to honour Bijay in a way that will continue his legacy of caring for the lives of disadvantaged children. We aim to raise funds to establish a special scholarship in his name – The FHC Bijay Memorial Scholarship.
Friends of Himalayan Children is a humanitarian organisation working in rural Nepalese communities and in Kathmandu. Our aim is to improve the lives of vulnerable women and children in Nepal through better access to education, and through educational programs and community development projects.
