The third yearly Water is Life Festival begins in Alice Springs on May 11 2024. The Festival ran in Elliot, NT in 2022 and 23, but this year we're taking it on the road - Alice Springs, Tennant Creek, Jilkminggan, Katherine and Darwin. Featuring Indigenous musician, songwriter and environmental campaigner Ray Dimakarri Dixon, the show will take the message of protecting water, particularly from gas fracking, to the communities of the NT.
We are a group of musicians and a film maker from the Blue Mountains, NSW. We are not being paid for our time and work, but we hope to raise some money towards our expenses. (Fuel for one vehicle to Darwin and back will cost around $2000.)
Ray is a well known and respected figure in the Territory, and we want to help him to communicate his vital message about the threat to surface and groundwater from fracking, mining, cotton growing and other corporate industrial activities. With an election looming in the NT, we need to let the Territory and Federal Governments know that most people recognise the dangers and oppose the giving away of precious water in an arid land.
Would love to be joining you in the NT, but can't. Saving our water, saving the environment from gas fracking is crucial. You are fighting for all of us!
Hope you all have an amazing tour xx
