We are a team of scientists from the Forrest Research Foundation and are excited to be swimming 20 km to Rottnest across open ocean on February 24th, 2024. That day, we will be diving into the deep blue sea with determination and enthusiasm, not only to challenge ourselves but also to support the work carried out by “Country needs People”. Country Needs People is an independent non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting Indigenous Australians to manage Land and Sea Country, creating meaningful jobs on Country. Many of us have directly worked with Indigenous rangers and know the positive impact their work is having on protecting nature and sustaining culture. As marine scientists, we believe that every stroke we take will create a positive ripple effect. We deeply care about Sea Country and its conservation for generations to come.
