Two years ago, by riding a lap of Tassie, I raised, with my network, enough funds to purchase an additional car (Mitsubishi Triton) for the Launceston Women's Shelter, an organization supporting women and children at a time of great need. In Mid-December 2023 I'll be riding Tasmania again; this time, the East and North Coast, and seeking to purchase 100 bikes ($130 each) for children in Cambodia in need of transport to school. My church (Emerge Church, based in the northern suburbs of Brisbane) visits Cambodia each year, contributing in practical ways to be a blessing to their local community in a myriad of ways. Giving bikes to children in need is one of those ways. Sisophon, Cambodia has many children who can't afford a bicycle or live too far away from school to walk to school. Education for the future of these children and their communities, as well as their country is extremely important. We desire to provide bicycles for these children to have the opportunity to attend school and further their education. The cost of these bicycles is out of reach for them and hopelessness creeps in. We want to bring hope that will empower them to live a life of opportunity that will bring positive change to their future. What an opportunity we have to live in a country where, getting to school is made simple, and as you can see from the linked images, it is an amazing blessing to these children when they receive their bike and mode of transport.
