“I can do this on my own!” Kate said. And yes, Kate can. However, Kate Malvenan IS NOT going to go through this cancer journey financially on her own for a second time. We are ALL with her.
In 2018, Kate was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, following a horrific marriage breakdown due to her husband's addiction to ICE. It’s known that emotions are stored in different organs of your body. Grief is held in the lungs. By the time of Kate’s diagnosis, the cancer had spread to her hips, ribs, shoulders, pelvis, liver, and spine. Given only a few months to live, Kate was offered only palliative care in Australia. She was told by doctors to go home and spend her precious remaining time with her then 2-year-old daughter, Annabelle, before her time would run out. As a single Mum, Kate knew she had to find a way to survive.
The fight was on to find a cure. Enter: @hope4cancermexico. Through sheer hard work, tenacity and determination, Kate beat the odds and was No Evidence of Disease (NED) after 12 months of gruelling work and commitment.
To document her incredible journey, Kate set up her Instagram account @its_not_kates_time. This has become a huge healing platform for tens of thousands of people faced with the enormity of their cancer battle to learn of a different way to heal.
Fast forward, to 3 July 2023, just 2 weeks ago, devastatingly Kate was presented with round two of a new cancer challenge. Kate was diagnosed with returned tumours to both lungs, as well as to her brain and liver. After supporting literally thousands of cancer patients and their support teams, it’s now our turn to support Kate as she continues with the much-needed treatment at @ hope4cancermexico. Kate arrived in Mexico on 17 July and has begun intensive 10-hour days of treatment over the next 8 weeks, with world-class patient-centred integrative and alternative oncology to heal the mind, body, and soul.
Kate’s unwavering love for Annabelle has her laser-focused on beating this again.
