In April 2021, I lost my fit, healthy father to an aggressive lung cancer at the age of 59. I’m racing the challenging 452km Finke Desert Race in June 2023 to raise funds for cancer research.
Dad was diagnosed in late June 2020 and went downhill within a couple of weeks, losing mobility, eyesight and brain function. Thanks to some amazing new drugs and research from the Peter Mcallan Cancer institute he was able to have a partial recovery. This enabled him to go on 4wding, bushwalking and camping trips in our precious last 9 months with him!
Riding helped me cope with losing Dad and my race number is 427 - our birthdays.
