Kokoda22 is a journey started by Veteran Jamie Wolf, who served in the Australian Defence Force, deploying to Malaysia and East Timor. Kokoda22 is a creating awareness and raising funds to combat the challenges our Veterans and their families face post service, both physically and mentally. Jamie has set the challenge to take on Kokoda for REAL. Almost 100km of the most unforgiving country you will find, all which is shrouded in military history. Jamie has also joined together to complete the trek with one of his best mates Jamie Mapstone. Both families have a proud military history. The Wolf family has seen Jamie serve (5 Years) , his Dad Alex (22 years), and his Grandfather serving in the German Army and being held as a POW in Egypt. The Mapstone family has seen Jamie's brother Chris, 24 years and still currently serving, and their father Kim who served 35 years. Jamie's Step-Mum also serving 20 years. The goal is to raise much needed funds and direct them to support Veterans and families via the volunteer lead Young Veterans charity. Transitioning back into civilian life isn't easy on both the veteran and their families. At present the Royal Commission into Veteran suicide is bringing to light the challenges ex service personal face. Unfortunately this wont be a quick fix, so this is why Jamie is passionate about making a difference and sharing his experiences post service. "I am devasted every time the defence community receives word about another digger taking their lives. The need to know they are not alone and people do understand how hard it can be. There are a lot of people that can help if only they had the courage and avenues to speak up". The target is $25,000 before the trek commences on the 24th October 2022. All funds will go directly to Young Veterans. Prior to the trek, the boys will be sharing their personal journeys, training and fundraising updates.
