About

"The Australian motorsport scene is mourning the passing of former Bridgestone go-to man Bill Shallard." (O'Brien, 2022)(1). The former go-to man was also a loving father to Gregory and Lara, and a loving husband to Genevieve.

Bill was born with a rare arteriovenous malformation in his left leg, requiring numerous surgeries and after a fall at 19 left his leg amputated. Despite the mass of adversity he faced in his lifetime, this never dulled his spirit.

By the time I came along my fathers conditioned had considerably worsened, with all of my recollections of my father being ill.

The man that my father was, was a man to be admired, a man of integrity and full of love. I'm dumbfounded now as I reflect upon how the gentle giant I adore, how he was gentle and loving at all - regarding the amount of pain he endured on a daily basis, should have made him unbearable. Forever am I blessed to have had him as my father, let alone spend so much time getting to know each other, and find solace in being able to find common ground and similarity's regarding chronic pain, medical fields etc.

Everyone's support and love through this time has been greatly appreciated. Alongside visits, calls, flowers, gifts and so on, however on behalf of my Fathers Honour, we would kindly prefer donations in which we can Donate to further vascular research.
