Raising funds for: Lismore Flood Recovery from The Weedy Garden Community
UPDATE: The campaign is closed now. Thankyou everyone who has donated. Please watch the latest episode of The Weedy Garden (18th April 2022) to see how we distributed the funds raised by this campaign. https://youtu.be/8_cj74h2XUc On behalf of the people who have received your help, THANKYOU. It was a light at the end of a very muddy tunnel. Regards David Trood AKA Weedy from The Weedy Garden We woke last Monday morning to a whole new world. The Northern Rivers region had just experienced a historical flood. I have been compelled to utillise the tools and skills that I have at my disposal. Having the ability to reach so many people around the world with my videos on The Weedy Garden YouTube channel, I have set up the Lismore Flood Recovery Fund from The Weedy Garden Community, to assist in the recovery of the community who have helped me over my time here. They have been gravely affected by this monumentally life-changing event. We are hoping that this fundraiser will raise enough money to help some of our friends in The Weedy Garden community who have been devastated by this event, to get back on their feet again. They need to re-build and start living in their homes with the basics that they need to do this, electricity reconnected, mattresses, fridges etc. On Monday, the 28th of Feburary, Lismore community was swallowed by the worst flood in recorded history. One year of rainfall came down in a single day, filling The Wilson’s River with 15 metres of intense flood water which left thousands trapped and needing to be rescued from their rooftops. Most of the people are now without a home. More than 2000 homes in the valley have been declared unliveable and two-thirds of the flood-affected homes will have to be demolished and rebuilt. The positive community response has been phenomenal - people are mobilising in ways that I have seen many times before. It is truly warming to watch our humanity as collective resilience is unleashed. People helping people it is the way forward for us all. It is a natural instinct we have. This fundraiser was established by me, David Trood, also known as The Weedy Garden. All donations will be distributed by us here in TWG to our friends and community in Lismore and those who need it most. Our goal is to get the funds to our friends directly, and as quickly as possible. It is not linked with any government agency or charity. All funds transferred will be done with due diligence and transparency, and I will be posting updates on The Weedy Garden social media, so you can see what is being done with the donations. After the campaign when we have recieved and distributed the funds, I will update you with an episode on my YouTube channel and the story of the beneficiaries who benefit from your donations. My friends are feeling so overwhelmed, devastated and wondering if they will make it through. So please help. Any amount would be so gratefully appreciated and they will feel supported with every donation because right now they are displaced and feeling isolated and helpless. Please keep sharing this important fundraiser so we can help them to rebuild their lives and homes. THANK YOU Weedy aka David Trood

Some of the funds are now available and I would like to share some of the stories of the people who YOU have helped. This is Jeht Burgoyne. Jeht lives beside the river in South Lismore, but still on a little hill. Even so, the flood waters came in over her head in the early hours of Monday morning, 28th Feb 2022. She lost all the equiptment that she uses to make her income, so we have helped Jeht get back into business by re vamping her workspace. It´s a job that will take time, but thanks to your donations, the process can begin. A subscriber to TWG named Stacey Brown has also donated a new sewing machine directly to Jeht. Jeht is overwhelmed with gratitude. On her behalf, I thank everyone who has donated :-) It was a real light at the end of the tunnel of mud. David Trood AKA Weedy from The Weedy Garden.

Just a little update on the half way mark. So very much appreciate everyone who has pitched in. It´s a fantastic effort. I am able to start distributing some of the donations next week and will be making a YouTube video about what we did with your help. Building materials are hard to get. So are builders atm, but the process will be properly documented in due time. Many Thanks Weedy aka David Trood

G’day everyone Just a little update from The Weedy Garden regarding the donations for the folks in Lismore. Thankyou all very much so far. Together we have $22.290, which is really going to be a blessing to some people. I drove south from Lismore yesterday to visit my father further down the coast. I drove for about one hour and was shocked to see hundreds and hundreds more empty homes along the way through the countryside. But as always, the Aussies will bounce back, and with the help you have given, some will bounce higher than they otherwise would. As I have said, I will try to make a video when we decide how we distribute your donations. Can’t wait to do that, but we will wait until after the campaign closes. Have a brilliant week. Love and photon particles Weedy and Heather ?
