On behalf of the people who have received your help, THANKYOU. It was a light at the end of a very muddy tunnel.

Regards
David Trood AKA Weedy from The Weedy Garden

We woke last Monday morning to a whole new world. The Northern Rivers region had just experienced a historical flood.

I have been compelled to utillise the tools and skills that I have at my disposal. Having the ability to reach so many people around the world with my videos on The Weedy Garden YouTube channel, I have set up the Lismore Flood Recovery Fund from The Weedy Garden Community, to assist in the recovery of the community who have helped me over my time here. They have been gravely affected by this monumentally life-changing event.

We are hoping that this fundraiser will raise enough money to help some of our friends in The Weedy Garden community who have been devastated by this event, to get back on their feet again. They need to re-build and start living in their homes with the basics that they need to do this, electricity reconnected, mattresses, fridges etc.

On Monday, the 28th of Feburary, Lismore community was swallowed by the worst flood in recorded history. One year of rainfall came down in a single day, filling The Wilson’s River with 15 metres of intense flood water which left thousands trapped and needing to be rescued from their rooftops. Most of the people are now without a home.

More than 2000 homes in the valley have been declared unliveable and two-thirds of the flood-affected homes will have to be demolished and rebuilt.

The positive community response has been phenomenal - people are mobilising in ways that I have seen many times before. It is truly warming to watch our humanity as collective resilience is unleashed. People helping people it is the way forward for us all. It is a natural instinct we have.

This fundraiser was established by me, David Trood, also known as The Weedy Garden. All donations will be distributed by us here in TWG to our friends and community in Lismore and those who need it most. Our goal is to get the funds to our friends directly, and as quickly as possible. It is not linked with any government agency or charity. All funds transferred will be done with due diligence and transparency, and I will be posting updates on The Weedy Garden social media, so you can see what is being done with the donations. After the campaign when we have recieved and distributed the funds, I will update you with an episode on my YouTube channel and the story of the beneficiaries who benefit from your donations.

My friends are feeling so overwhelmed, devastated and wondering if they will make it through. So please help. Any amount would be so gratefully appreciated and they will feel supported with every donation because right now they are displaced and feeling isolated and helpless.

Please keep sharing this important fundraiser so we can help them to rebuild their lives and homes.

THANK YOU

Weedy aka David Trood
