On February 26 and 27 2022, over 175 people will be involved in a 110km walk from Bondi Beach to Barrenjoey Lighthouse to fundraise and raise awareness for mental health, bringing it more to the forefront. Raising money for One Eighty, Gotcha4Life and community group Mongrels Men, organiser Jake Cohen has spent the past six months arranging the walk and raising awareness on the importance of positive mental health and fitness. Over 12 event sponsors and partners have signed on for the event, while a range of high profile people will be participating in the walk. They range from mental health and charity advocates, politicians, sports stars, tv personalities and reality tv stars. Mental health fundraising is a huge passion of mine for Jake. Having raised $76,726 previously for different charities, he wants to try to hit the $100K mark for total monies raised, with the money going towards fantastic community programs delivered to people all over Sydney and Australia. To get involved, please see: https://forms.gle/mAn8ZmQqwa4XjrUJ6 To find out more information about the charities, please visit their respective sites at https://www.oneeighty.org.au and https://www.gotcha4life.org. To see the initiatives that Mongrels Men run, please see https://mongrelsmen.com. If you have any questions or would like to get more information, please email Jake Cohen at jake_cohen_1992@hotmail.com.

Hi all, Should have also said, the total money I’ve been able to raise for mental health charities now stands at over $106,000 now as well. This is one of the proudest things I’ve been able to do, so thank you for being a part of ensuring this is possible! It’s about making a difference in our community, so this is me just trying to do my small part. Thanks, Jake

Hi all, Thanks for your patience in waiting for this wrap up email. It's been a big last few days after completing the Bondi to Barrenjoey for Mental Health: Bigger and Better walk over the weekend. I can confirm that we had over 120 people involved in the event over the weekend. With the horrendous weather conditions on Saturday, it was expected that we would have people drop out, so this was a great achievement. A big congratulations to the other five (attached photo) who completed the whole distance: Emily, Brad, Brendan, Michael and Jonathan. To be alongside you for that way and see you complete it, I can tell you that certainly helped drive me on to finish the walk, plus seeing the donation total increase so quickly. The figure for monies raised isn't yet finalised as there are still some donations still trickling in. However, I can confirm that the figure will be over $31,000 from donations and monies raised, which will go towards great mental health charities. That figure will likely be finalised in around 1-2 weeks but whatever that figure comes out to be, it will allow a huge amount of fantastic programs and initiatives to occur which otherwise wouldn't have been possible. This is down to your generosity and support of myself, the event and charities. Thank you to everyone who was involved in the walk, sponsors, event partners, those who donated and everyone else. The event wouldn't have been able to have had the success without you, so a massive amount of gratitude for being involved and for your support. If you have any questions, please let me know. Otherwise, I just want to wrap up by thanking everyone and for the Bondi to Barrenjoey for Mental Health: Bigger and Better in 2022, what a great success it was! The professional photos will be posted on social media ASAP. Thanks, Jake

This certainly wasn’t expected when I went down to Dee Why Beach this morning to be on Sunrise for a few crosses with Sam Mac to help ensure the Bondi to Barrenjoey for Mental Health: Bigger and Better event got added exposure, which I’m so grateful for. I feel very fortunate to have received Sam Mac’s Sunrise Suburban Superstar $10,000 cheque this morning. This will go to the charities to ensure they’re able to run further programs in helping Australian men and women with their mental health and fitness. This will assist in reducing the stigma of mental health illness in Australia and also help to ensure more conversations can go on between people on these topics who have been seen as taboo. Thank you for donating and contributing to the fundraising total, along with those of you who are walking. It’s certainly shaping up to be a great weekend with over 200 people involved in the walk, plus celebratory events at the end of day 1 and 2. Thanks to Jonathan Forsyth for making this morning possible by nominating me and to everyone who came down this morning to support the event and myself personally. Thanks once again to everyone! ??

A week to go until the Bondi to Barrenjoey for Mental Health: Bigger and Better walk, which is rather exciting! We’ve just passed the $10,500 mark for money raised from this event, with many donations likely to come in. This puts my total raised at $87,246. The idea is to push to try to hit, at least, $100,000 raised by the end of the this event.
