Patrick Coombes was just 5 years old when he was diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer. How do you say goodbye to a smart, funny, cheeky little monkey like Patto (as he was lovingly known to friends and family). The Everingham and Coombes families found out. It is heartbreakingly sad and awful.
But there are people who have walked this terrible path before, warm and loving charities and people who infuse those hard months and last weeks and days with love, laughter, kindness and compassion.
No one who knew him will ever forget Patto. But his Pop, Rod Everingham is determined to keep his memory alive and also to give back, to the best of his ability, to the charities that helped his family in their time of need. He's already completed two gruelling fundraiser bike rides, raising almost $100,000 for charity.
This is his last ditch attempt. At 70, he's not getting any younger, so this is a huge challenge. It's a labour of love. 1,400 kilometres over 14 days from Cameron Corner where NSW, SA and QLD meet, to his home town of Wauchope. The ride starts on 23 May 2021 and finishes on 13th June. Come along for the ride, or support his lion hearted efforts here.
