Remembering Evan. He had far more to give to the world, but was taken away at the age of 53, in his prime. He would have been 60 years young on MAY 12th 2022.
Each year (now 8 years since he passed away), we reach across the world, to family, friends and colleagues who knew and loved him, to continue a legacy in his memory.
The EVision Project will distribute raised funds to:
1) The Kwale Eye Centre in Kenya. We will fund screening trips into the remote villages, where eye clinic staff assess the patients and advise them to return with the staff to the clinic for their life-changing cataract surgery and treatment.
They are then returned to their homes and this completes the trip. Some see their grandchildren for the first time with restored sight. This is all funded by you - our donors.
2) The St John Eye Hospital, Soweto, South Africa where Evan trained in Ophthalmology.
At the Prince of Wales Eye Hospital in Sydney, Evan enjoyed many trips to the Outback in Bourke with the Royal Flying Doctors Service. They provided eye clinics, cataract surgery and other treatment for patient's unable to travel to the main centres for surgery and treatment.
Evan was extremely humbled and proud to have established a private practice with his life-long friend, Dr Alan Flax and the partners who joined them at Southern Ophthalmology in Kogarah.
Helping disadvantaged communities was always of importance to Evan, and we know this project will have a life-changing effect on many people who will be assisted by this project.
Thanking you in advance for your kind assistance,
Jenny, Glen and Matt Soicher
