Many know Di as an outspoken, go-getter who will do the absolute most for her loved ones. Having a deeply caring and compassionate nature at heart she will go to the ends of the earth to help others. An extremely selfless woman, Di has raised and nurtured three children as well as working full time in a high pressure, fast-paced job - a chef in an aged care home. Her true love, however, is all things, Disney. Growing up she has always loved the classics and has hundreds of Disney pops and other memorabilia. Her primary dream for the longest time has been to visit Disneyland in California. For the past year, she and her husband have been loosely planning their dream trip to Disneyland, in the hopes that they could achieve this in the next 5-10 years. About a month ago Di was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer. This has rendered this dream happening anytime soon impossible. Di currently works full time, however, two weeks into chemo and she is starting to see the devastating effects of treatment on her ability to continue to work. Gradually she and her family will end up relying on one sole income. Di clearly has a difficult road ahead and is about to be thrown headfirst into some dark times. It is because of her unfair knock with cancer that we need your help raising money so that we can send Di and her husband to Disneyland once her treatment is finally over, and provided she recovers well. (which would also obviously be post COVID-19 restrictions are lifted for international travel and it is safe to do so). WHAT WE ARE DOING Because of the circumstances, Di is unsure of how soon/ when she will get the chance to achieve this very attainable, lifelong dream of hers. Hence, starting in mid-August this year, I will be hiking the 1200km Heysen trail in South Australia that runs from Cape Jervis to Parachilna Gorge in the hope that I will raise sufficient awareness and in turn raise enough funds for Di's journey to California. I will be documenting and continuously updating my trek on social media (Instagram + Facebook) as well as writing more about Di and who she is on these two platforms.
