Raising funds for: Nethra Krishnamurthy
On Friday 20th of January, Nethra was returning from breast feeding her 8 month old baby at day care, when she was run over at a speed of over 80km/h in the Bourke St rampage. This was her first week back from Maternity Leave. She sustained serious injuries, which include deep lacerations to her head, a punctured lung, damage to her liver and kidneys, as well as broken ribs and fractures to her spine in three different places. Nethra was rushed to Hospital and underwent emergency surgery for several hours. She is presently in Intensive Care, in a critical but stable condition. Given that Nethra and her family don't have any other relatives in Australia, this adds to the difficulty of her situation. With her husband by her bedside every day, the care of their baby is of utmost importance. Nethra's baby is currently in the care of a work colleague, and some family friends, who are all doing as much as possible. Given the severity of her injuries, Nethra will remain in hospital for quite some time, and following this will have a long road to recovery, both physically and psychologically. Please help us to raise funds for this mum and her young family, during this unfathomably difficult time. The community came together to help Nethra so much in the initial moments of the tragedy, and we asking for that to please continue. All funds raised will go directly to Nethra and her husband. Please share this campaign far and wide, so that others can also help.
Update
14 Feb 2017
It has officially been one week since the Bourke St tragedy. We sincerely thank each and every person who has offered support to Nethra and her family. The outpouring of generosity and kindness has been nothing short of incredible. Many of you have been inquiring about how Nethra is progressing following the horrific injuries she sustained last Friday, and we feel very relieved to be able to say that Nethra is on the road to recovery. She has undergone multiple operations over the last week and remains under medication. Thankfully, she has now been moved out of ICU but will still be monitored one day at a time. This means that their baby remains in the care of friends, and his Grandmother who has flown from India to be by her family's side. Her husband is intensely grateful for the empathy, moral and financial support Nethra has received during these unfathomably difficult times. All funds raised will go directly to Nethra and family. Thank you once again for your kind support.
