Dear Friends and Supporters of Wildlife Asia,

We are writing to offer you the unique opportunity to contribute to the purchase of a valuable area of land in Sumatra, the Supayang Reserve. Home to an enormous variety of Critically Endangered and Endangered species, this area faces immediate threat of being destroyed by developers. It can be protected forever with your help.

Working through a partner organisation in Indonesia, Wildlife Asia hopes to raise at least $15,000 by the end of 2013 to enable the purchase of 12 ha. The land is available for $1250 AUD/ha and of course your donation to Wildlife Asia is tax deductible. We are co-funding this project with Silvery Gibbon Project (SGP), Kalaweit and the Rainforest Information Centre (RIC) for a total of 36 ha.

Conservation value of the area

The Supayang reserve is home to a variety of Sumatran large mammals including Agile gibbons, siamang, sunbears, tigers and leopards. The overall biodiversity of the area is considerably high.

Current threats to the area are conversion to logging/mining. These threats are immediate, with logging occurring in the vicinity at present.
