Every child deserves the right to smile...
As most of us wake up to a normal day in our beds at home many children and their families will be waking up in a hospital bed in the University Hospital Geelong's Children's Ward receiving life saving and life enhancing medical treatment.
At Barwon Health we believe every child has the right to smile during their stay in hospital. Therefore we are asking for your help to bring a little bit of joy to the children and their families who will be waking up in hospital, rather than at home with their loved ones.
We are asking the Geelong community to donate just $20.00 to provide a sick child with a gift to make them smile.
The Care Pack includes a variety of comfort items and activities to bring joy to the youngest people spending time in hospital.
A Donation of $100 will provide FIVE children and their families with some comfort and distraction.
So go on and dig deep to bring smiles to the faces of children waking up in hospital this morning.
About Care Pack Program
Barwon Health’s Cotton On Children’s Ward provides care and support to more than 1800 children admitted to the Geelong Hospital each and every year.
The purpose of this important program became clear when our youngest patients became bored and their parents were finding it difficult to distract them from the reality of being in hopsital.
Geelong Hospital’s Volunteer Services Department currently decided to provide children admitted to the Children’s Ward with a ‘Care Pack’ containing a variety of activity and comfort items and we need your support to continue this valuable and much needed program.
About Volunteer Services
Volunteers are an integral of our organisation and we would struggle to achieve such positive outcomes for the community without them.
For over 40 years, volunteers have supported the vital work of Barwon Health and have enhanced the health services provided by our organisation.
Barwon Health is proud to have the support of over 1,000 dedicated volunteers who donate more than 60,000 hours of their time each year.
Volunteers are involved across all departments of our organisation, including Mental Health, Aged Care, Rehabilitation, Acute Care and Community Health.
Our volunteers go above and beyond the call of duty to enhance the healthcare experience of our consumers.
