The Kokoda Track, now officially renamed the Kokoda Trail, also has great historical significance and was the site of bitter fighting between Australian and Japanese armies during the early days of World War II. The Kokoda Trail traverses Papua New Guinea over rugged mountains, rainforest and clear mountain streams. A trek on the Kokoda Trail is a challenging adventure through some of the most remote jungle in the world.
