What is The Marriott Sporting Challenge?
The Marriott Sporting Challenge is about local recreational sports people experiencing their sport from the perspective of a person with a disability by restricting a part of their physical being while engaged in their sport. Playing sport can be physically challenging. Coordinating your movements, getting your body to do what you want it to do and stand up to the pressure is part of what we enjoy in sport. We challenge you to create a greater challenge for your sporting club’s adult competition, for one event.
All teams in your comp play 1 round with a physical restriction - which could be for the whole game or just during the warm up.
How can you raise money for Marriott?
Portion of your court/entry fees for the round be donated
Charge entry fees to the game
Corporate donations (get a sponsor for your game)
Mid game competition i.e. pay $2 for the chance to shoot a basket and win $100 (funds provided by a sponsor).
Where do your donations go?
As our basketball program is unfunded. Your donation will go to securing the future of our basketball program and other skill development initiatives for people with a disability.
