Help us take action against poverty in India and empower a community so they can create a better future for themselves and their children.
About 1000 families live in Erampatti, a small village in Southern India. Like many villages in India, Erampatti lacks many of the things that we take for granted. There's no medical facilities, very few houses have toilets and many families have to pump drinking water by hand and carry it to their homes.
Employment opportunities are limited, with seasonal work on farms the main source of income for most families. Unfortunately Erampatti lies in an area of low rainfall, so in years when the monsoon rains fail to come, there's little water for farmers to irrigate their crops.
Just like us, the people of Erampatti would love to be able to provide a better future for their children, but many families struggle just to put food on the table. The good news is that things are changing...
Shalom Community Development Project is now working alongside village leaders and families to provide them with programs, skills and resources that will help them tackle some of the causes and effects of poverty in their community. You can find out more about some of the positive changes that are already taking place in Erampatti thanks to the project by visiting www.shalomhomeindia.org
Through our aprons4action campaign, we hope to raise money to help Shalom fund additional community health, education, farming and income generating projects in the village. For more info about Aprons4action and our travelling aprons, please visit www.aprons4action.org.au
We hope you'll join us and get wrapped up in aprons4action.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Put on your aprons4action apron and donate now ... start fundraising ....... or sponsor a friend as they take on one of our apron challenges ....... and you too can help build futures and empower a community.
One person can't change the world, but with your help we can change the world for one person and maybe even a whole community.
Thank you for your support
