The Brain Injury Association of New South Wales (BIA NSW) is dedicated to achieving equality for people living with an acquired brain injury (ABI). We are the leading support network for brain injury survivors - as well as their families, carers and other interested parties. Our passion is protecting the rights and interests of people with an ABI and we achieve this by communicating issues to the government, service providers and community members.

The BIA NSW provides a service that can help you find the support you need anywhere across the state. And as a member of the national Brain Injury Australia, we can put you in contact with a number of support networks right across the country.

The BIA NSW works to raise awareness of the needs and issues affecting people with an acquired brain injury (ABI). The Association provides support and guidance to people with an ABI in a number of ways, including:
  • Advocacy Services, including Individual Advocacy and Self Advocacy Development & Training
  • Information & Referral Service
  • Co-ordination of a Speakers Bureau
  • Support of a peer mentoring program
  • Regular Newsletters
  • Meetings between different agencies
  • Awareness Training for Service Providers
  • Policy Work
  • Special Projects, such as Publications and Submissions, Research & Special Events
The BIA NSW is the peak non-government organisation committed to raising the awareness of ABI to government, service providers and communities. We work alongside brain injury survivors, their families, friends, carers and other interested parties to promote social equality for all people living with an ABI.
