Kokoda 2026
Them: "It's REALLY tough"
Me: "Sign me up"
This October, I’m taking on the Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea, an 8-day challenge filled with steep climbs, slippery descents, extreme heat, mud and exhaustion.
My son Lenny has Type 1 Diabetes. His life is a constant balance of highs and lows — monitoring blood glucose levels, managing insulin, counting carbs, interrupted sleep, constant alarms, planning ahead, lots of extra decisions and staying alert at all times.
There are no breaks, no days off, and sadly, there is no finish line. It’s a daily challenge that requires strength, resilience and maturity well beyond his years.
On the Kokoda track, I’ll experience physical and mental highs and lows, while managing a number of medical conditions of my own — pushing through fatigue, discomfort and doubt. But those challenges will end when the trek ends. Lenny’s don’t. His highs and lows are with him every single day, for the rest of his life.
I’m walking Kokoda in Lenny's honour, and for every child and family navigating Type 1 Diabetes. I'm also doing it to challenge myself and push my body to a new level in my 40's.
Funds raised will help The Type 1 Foundation’s work in education, advocacy and support to create a better future for those living with this condition and their families.
If you’re able to support my trek with a donation, no matter how big or small, you’ll be helping to make a real difference. Every step I take is for Lenny — and every dollar raised helps others just like Lenny.
Thank you so much for believing in me, supporting our family and getting behind a worthy cause.
