We - Sophia and Dee have known each other since 2013, when we worked together as nurses. We reconnected when we found out about COPE and their various perinatal mental health support. We are both mothers who have experienced our own struggles through motherhood such as perinatal anxiety and postnatal depression, we are happy to jump together for this cause.

I did it ?? and I loved every second of it ??? Never say never! I have had 2 babies and I still doubt myself ???? Not anymore! I now have a scale, as Dee said, the bar is literally set to 'Yeah, but, is it scarier than Skydiving?' ?? Thanks to all of those who donated and love me enough they wanted me to Jump out of a plane ?? Just kidding! The cause was fantastic to support and I'm thankful that we raised well over our target, that we shared our stories and started so many conversations about Mother's Mental Health. Thanks COPE and Mama Tribe. And of course - thanks Dee ??? You have been a bigger help than what you give yourself credit for, with this and in my motherhood journey! You're an amazing friend, mother, nurse and person. I'm glad that our paths crossed and we have remained friends. Thank you for doing this with me ? The hardest part was the bus/plane trip - the psyching myself up for it! It wasn't necessarily the safety aspect of it! I know my chances were in best hands skydiving in Australia with this company, hands down! For me, it was literally just overcoming that fear and getting over the initial getting out of the plane! And my over enthusiastic 4 year old wasn't old enough to talk me out of it and instead, highly encouraged me to do it - even gave up coins from his piggy bank! I hate heights, especially literally staring at them blank in the face! I'm not one for looking down! Thankfully my amazing instructor Mitch reassured me that looking down is not optimal or safe to jump out and all I had to do was get into the safety position - he did the push out and controlled everything else that I didn't want to have to think about! I did it, took in the amazing views and was like, well I'm doing it now, only way now is to land safely back on the ground ??

We did it! It was a challenge but I had so much fun too! We not only reached our target to Jump biy surpassed our fundraising target too. 22 of April, pending official confirmation is our Jump Date, in Wollongong ? I cannot believe I was convinced to do it but I'm also glad I was! I have enjoyed talking about this event and sharing my story too. Thanks to Dee, Marcela from Mama Tribe, Mama Tribe and Daily Break Cafe, we had a fundraiser and raised just over $100 from raffle and arts and crafts and cookies/cupcake decorating. We also raised $160 in cash from tins left at places too. This helped people contribute no matter how small - it goes a long way. Thanks for everyone's support, it means a lot to me, Dee and every mum this will help.

Thank you so much everyone. I still can't believe I have agreed to this and Hubby hasn't talked me out of it! It's great to have the support. I want to thank my Children's daycare, hubby's work and local cafe Blind Chef for allowing tins to be left with my write up! Hopefully I will have a locked in date for Jumping soon. If March is taken up it will be April. Thank you ???

Why Jump? Jumping out of a plane takes courage - so does becoming a Mother." I just really need to do this and if I do not do it now, I never will! Why not do it for this important cause close to my heart? Supporting a foundation that has supported me and has given me so much, especially recently. I am jumping for me, my kids, for other Mothers that have experienced the ups and downs of motherhood. Some go through it harder than others. I have a very supportive husband, family and friends and I have never shied away from utilising services to keep my sanity in check (prevention is better than a cure), but it still has not been a walk in the park. “Jumping out of a plane takes courage - so does becoming a Mother." There's so much to this sentence! Becoming a Mother is like nothing that I have ever done before and nothing could have really prepared me for it. It takes everything out of me, makes me question everything I do, yet I love my kids with all my heart and soul and I would never go back. Entering Motherhood and now becoming a Mother of 2 - a lot has been thrown at me over the years, good, bad, rewarding, challenging – and ugly. I have learnt that it really does take a village to raise our kids and it is okay not to be okay. However, villages are not the same as they used to be and it’s not always easy to talk about not being okay. I have overcome an early miscarriage with my first, anxiety during my second pregnancy, birth trauma, general life stressors and post-partum recovery – it took me a bit to find my groove as a first time mother. Then Covid hit – say no more! One thing I found so hard was the social isolation and losing other activities that I utilise to prevent burning out from working as a nurse. Covid also made my recent second pregnancy to my now 6 month old harder for me, though it was solidified my home birth – and that has been a huge positive achievement and given me whole other community of special mamas to be a part of too. It has been challenging to grow our family and adjust to life with 2 but it has also been amazing! It’s walking a similar path previously, drawing on what I have learnt but figuring out new things and challenges too. I still have a fantastic village, even though it’s changed for various reasons. Becoming a COPE Mama Tribe Ambassador has pushed me out of my comfort zone to connect with other Mamas, go to new places and try new things – now including skydiving! I have overcome so much in my motherhood journey so far and achieved so much, surely I can overcome this and Jump off a plane!

Go Jump! Sophia & Dee
