Since Covid, rates of domestic violence have increased and local shelters are at capacity.
Walk for Women and Children is a fundraising initiative for the Manly Warringah Women's Resource Centre (MWWRC), to help raise vital funds to support women and children escaping domestic violence and abuse.
It's so easy to get involved! You just need to set yourself an exercise goal for November. Maybe you want to do a 30-minute walk a day. Or a 2km run. Or a 1-hour exercise class. Whatever it is, it needs to be achievable and something you're easily able to do!
If you join our North Shore Mums team, we can together see the huge difference that our individual fundraising efforts can have as a group!
The MWWRC provide crisis accommodation and support services for at risk women and children with a refuge on the North Shore, plus a refuge and a new Safe House on the Northern Beaches. The exact suburbs of these are kept private, to protect the victims. Sadly, COVID-19 has seen an escalation in domestic violence and abuse and an increased demand for these vital services.
There are three ways you can help:
1. JOIN OUR TEAM! We would as many people as possible to join our team. You don't even need to be a mum, and you don't need to live on Sydney's North Shore. You just need to want to set yourself an exercise challenge, and know you're doing it for such an important cause.
2. DONATE! If you don't want to get involved in the fundraising, that's totally fine. But it would be amazing if you could sponsor our team. 100% of all fund are going directly to Manly Warringah Women's Resource Centre.
3. SHARE! Tell your friends. Get your friends on board to join the team too. The more people we get involved, the bigger the impact we can have.
Thank you so much for supporting our efforts in raising money for this important cause.
Great work Annika and a worthy cause!
