I don’t know if this will do anything but it’s worth a shot.
Thanks to the hellish bushfires this Christmas, the skies in Sydney are covered in an orange haze and there’s ash falling from the sky hundreds of miles away into our backyards. As close to about 40 mins away from where I live in SW Sydney, in places like Yanderra, people are losing their homes to out of control blazes. Further North towards the Blue Mountains, near Gospers Mountain, one of the worst fires ever witnessed in Australia has destroyed an area SEVEN TIMES THE SIZE OF SINGAPORE.
Whether or not you believe that climate change is the cause of this, you have to agree that the people on the frontline need all the help they can get. There have been stories of firefighters going into their local hardware store to buy basic supplies like face masks using their own money.
As a designer/creative I have zero skills to contribute to any firefighting efforts. But I have a reasonable online following, so perhaps if a few of us donate, we can make a small difference. If ten of us contribute $20, that is $200. If you'd like to contribute please use this link below. All money raised will go towards the NSW Rural Fire Service Donation Fund.
Stay safe Australia! Sending love. In honor of Suyin, Ted, Lilli, Max & Scout!
